What is JIRP?
The Juneau Icefield Research Program (JIRP) is a nonprofit education program for undergraduate-level students interested in glacier and climate science. Each summer, 32 students spend 7 weeks living on and studying the Juneau Icefield, which spans the US-Canada border. Participants collect data that helps researchers around the world understand glacier retreat, climate change, and their effects on Juneau, Southeast Alaska, and beyond.
JIRP will celebrate its 90th season in 2026. Proceeds from the purchase of this shirt, which features art by JIRP faculty Hannah Perrine Mode, support the Joan W. Miller Scholarship Fund for students who could not otherwise afford to attend JIRP.
